Baptism is the "door to the Sacraments". By our baptism, Christians are made adopted sons and daughters of God, and can fully immerse themselves in all of the graces of the Church. We are cleansed of original sin and given the inheritance of heaven where we will live in perfect joy for eternity.
If you would like to have your child baptized at Holy Savior, please contact the church office. If you are an adult interested in joining the Church, please contact the office to ask about RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).
The Eucharist is the "source and summit" of the Christian life. By the Eucharist, we are sustained, sanctified, and purified. Regular reception of the Eucharist is highly encouraged for all Catholics who are properly prepared to receive it. In the Eucharist, we meet Christ face to face, in His Body, Blood, Soul, & Divinity.
First Communion preparation for those children not attending Holy Savior Catholic School can be arranged through the church office.
Mass Times are as follows:
Saturday Vigil | 4:00pm (5:00pm DST)
Monday -Thursday| 5:30pm
First Friday | 5:30 pm Adoration and 6:30 pm Mass
First Saturday | 8:00 am Mass
If you are a Catholic adult or any child past the age of second grade, please call the office to speak about how we can aid you in preparing to receive the Eucharist.
Reconciliation is that Sacrament by which we are cleansed of our sins in order to once again be face-to-face with Christ. When we come with deep contrition and truly desire conversion, we are transformed by the mercy of God and brought back fully into the heart of the Father.
Reconciliation is available 30 minutes before all Masses. You can also contact the office to set up a special appointment time.
Confirmation is the Sacrament wherein we become soldiers for Christ. Our baptismal promises are renewed, and we go forth proclaiming the Gospel by our lives. Confirmation strengthens those gifts of the Holy Spirit that we are endowed with at our Baptism.
Teenagers and adults seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation should contact the church office to find out more information about how to receive this Sacrament.
The Sacrament of Matrimony stands as a sign of Christ the Bridegroom's love for his Bride, the Church. By this Sacrament, spouses are called to a life of service to one another, to their children, and to the Church. Married people live a life of love which calls them to sacrifice for one another and their children in order to reach the gates of heaven.
If you are interested in receiving the Sacrament of Matrimony at Holy Savior, please contact the office at least six months prior to your desired wedding date. More information can be found by calling the church office.
In times of illness, we are provided with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This Sacrament prepares us for heaven, but more immediately helps us to live a life of redemptive suffering, suffering which is deeply united to the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ. We come face to face with Christ in his Passion, and can find the strength to offer up our suffering for our own salvation and the salvation of the world.
Arrangements to receive the Anointing of the Sick may be made prior to entering the hospital for serious illness. Please call the parish office to request prayers, to arrange for a pastoral visit, or to be placed on Holy Savior's Prayer List.
If you feel the call to priesthood, consider calling the church office to speak with Father Jean Marie, or contacting the Houma-Thibodaux Vocations office here.
